EXCLUSIVE: EMTs forced to wait with corpses for hours before cops arrive, leaving them unable to respond to emergency calls

Frustrated EMTs are sometimes stuck waiting for hours watching over dead bodies — lengthy delays that make city ambulances unavailable for emergencies for long stretches of time, the Daily News has learned.

l EMS raced to an urgent Forest Park, Queens, call for an ailing 75-year-old man at 8:30 p.m. At 8:51 p.m., cops were alerted that the patient was nonresponsive — but they didn’t show up at the scene. At 9:35 p.m., exasperated FDNY supervisors started calling NYPD dispatchers asking when cops might arrive.
